Odd and wild shapes formed in the Chinaberry tree limbs by Mother Nature herself.
These explosions of the limbs are used by Indonesian Villagers to create some very unique and different carvings.
The Burl Wood is sometimes used as the base for other wood carvings.
Generally used are Satin Wood or Hibiscus wood carvings set on top a naturally formed Burl Wood stump or end piece.
In some instances, like with the Dolphins or our Turtles, they are set on top of a Chinaberry branch with one or more burls.
On other occassions, the way the burl is formed the Indonesian Villagers are able to take enough of the remaining wood to actually carve the image out of the burled limb.
A super example is how they have done the Eagle Head carving. [B645a]
